Bio:
I turned professional artist in the summer of 2011 on completing the Portraiture diploma at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea. Prior to that I had an international business career, drawing and painting as an amateur when I could find the time.
Now, as a figurative artist, I work from a studio in Chelsea. Whilst commissioned portraits in oil are my main focus, I like to vary his work with drawing, life sketching and, to really loosen up, plein air landscape painting. I get a lot of fun running the monthly plein air outing for the Society of Fulham Artist & Potters (SoFAP) and recently participated as a wildcard entry in Sky Art’s 'Landscape Artist of the Year' competition.
I am also an active member of the Lots Road Group, formed in 2014, which mounts an annual "themed" portraiture exhibition, featuring a written narrative to accompany each painting.
Artist’s Statement:
Aim for colours that sing, tones that provide drama, marks that are carefully considered and you hope to end up with a painting that looks good on any wall. Throw in a watchful examination of your sitter’s features, movements and soul, adjusted with just a touch of exaggeration and you might even have an engaging likeness.
