Biography

Martin turned professional artist in the summer of 2011 on completing the Portraiture diploma at The Heatherley School of Fine Art.  Prior to that he had a career in international reinsurance, drawing and painting as an amateur when he could find the time.

Now, as a figurative artist, he works from a studio in Chelsea. Commissioned portraits are his main focus but he likes to vary his work with drawing, life sketching and, to really loosen up, landscape painting.  His preferred medium is oils but he also uses acrylics, gouache and pastels.

Martin is a member of the Lots Road Group which puts on a themed portraiture exhibition every year or so.

He also runs the monthly plein air outing for the Fulham Society of Artists and Potters (SOFAP) and has participated as a wildcard entry in Sky Art’s “Landscape Artist of the Year” competition.
